Balkan was a cluster of present day independent nations.

It was ruled by Ottoman empire.

Disintegration of Ottoman empire and spread of nationalist ideas in Europe made this area very explosive.

There were revolts for independence.

Revolutionaries of this area demanded independence.

After independence, there was intense rivalry between balkan states.

They were jealous of each other and wanted to extend their territories.

European powers - Russia, Germany, England and austro-hungary wanted to extend their influence on this area.

This led to series of wars known as world war 1...

Hope it helps you dear ☺️☺️
