Einstein's equation E = mc2 shows that energy and mass are interchangeable. The theory of special relativity explains how space and time are linked for objects that are moving at a consistent speed in a straight line. One of its most famous aspects concerns objects moving at the speed of light.

Theory of relativity is given by great physicist Albert Einstein.

As we know from Newton 's theory relative motion

  • velocity of any object is not absolute ,it is relative to another object for example we simply cannot say that earth is at rest ,we have to define by what mean we are saying Earth is at rest ,earth is at rest with respect to all objects which are on the earth and simultaneously Earth is in motion with respect to sun
  • so we have to define to whom we are saying body is rest or in motion
  • In 1905 Einstein wrote in his research paper that as motion of object is relative same as time is also relative it's not absolute. if we goes in the region where there is high gravity in that particular region time become slow and this phenomenon is known as time dilation .this phenomenon create a question on the velocity of light
  • As we sees a rod moving with velocity comparable to the velocity of light then the length of rod seems smaller than the actual length. this phenomena is called contraction of the length
