The outcomes of social division depends on the following:

  • The way in which the people perceive their identities-If people see their identities in singular and exclusive terms, it becomes difficult. But, if they see themselves in the national identity people can live in peace.

  • The way in which the political parties and rulers raise the demands of a certain community- It is easier to accomodate demands that are within the constitutional framework and are not at the mercy of another community.

  • The way in which the Government responds to the needs and demands of the people.

Following are the three factors that decide the result of the politics of social groups:

1. People’s perception: if people perceive their identities in uncommon and restricted ways, it will commence to public divisions and disorder. It becomes easier if people perceive their identities are multiple and are equal with the national integrity

2. Raising of demands by political leaders: it is another important factor that decides the outcome of politics of social divisions, for instance, if the political leaders representing any community made demands that come under the legal framework and does not affect another community.

3. The reaction of Government: if the demands raised by the political leaders affect the benefits of other communities and the government has to suppress it, then it can cause social division.
