The three major controls of the climate are :

Latitude: due to the round shape of the Earth the amount of solar energy receive varies according to latitude . As a result air temperature decreases from the equator to the poles .

Altitude: as one moves up to higher altitudes the atmosphere becomes less dense and temperature increases . Therefore hills are cooler in summer times

Pressure and winds : pressure and wind system of an area depend on latitude and altitude of the place . Thus it influence the temperature and rainfall pattern
