Himadri is the topmost part of the Himalayal. It is covered with ice throughout the year. There is no vegetation in this part of the mountains.

Shiwalik is the lowest part or the foothills of the Himalayas. Most hill stations are situated in this part of the mountain. Green vegetation prevails here and is suitable for living.
