1- In the border and shading dialogue box, first of all, select the item such as paragraph, text, table or frame that you want to make changes in the borders or shading area.

2- Then go to view menu, after selecting toolbars, click on the table and borders toolbar.  

3- After clicking on the table and toolbar menu, do the following to make changes.

a) For border settings first, select the item.

i- For styling of the line click the arrow beside the line style.

ii- By clicking the arrow adjacent to the line weight, select the option to make a borderline thick or thin.  

iii- To fill colors in the borderline, click the arrow adjacent to border color.

iv- For the type of borderline, click the arrow beside the border.

b) Select the item for shading and then click the arrow beside the Shading Color ad then add the color according to your desire.
