Answer:
When joe thompson decided to take maggie to his home, he knew that his wife would be very angry at him since she was a vinegar tempered female since she was futile and didn't have a child to show her female nature and to share her love with. On seeing the crippled child being brought to her cottage by her husband, her eyes flamed with anger since she could not tolerate a paralysed child being at her place. At that point of time joe confronted her (which he usually didn't do) and asked her to tolerate the child for just a day for he would look for her guardians the next day. he could see empathy in her eyes and now went to his shop. in the evening tge light in the room where he had left maggie attracted him since it was a good sign. when he went back home he saw mrs thompson sitting beside maggie and talking to her. he could not see any pain in maggie's eyes. This was a good sign. When mrs thomson heard his strides, she hustled down to the kitchen. he didnt talk about maggie. neithet did she. later jane asked joe to let maggie be with them for some more days since she was not in the right state. Needless to say, she got used to the child who rejuvenated her female nature. They both never looked for maggie's guardians. Mrs jane thompson was now transformed since niw she had a sweet child to share her love and care with.
