Answer:
Nepal is a country situated in the north of India and sharing its border with India and China. The country has a population of more than 29 million people spanning in a surface area of 147,181 square kilometers. The country boasts to have mainly three geographical variety: mountains, hills and the plains. Though the manufacturing sector of the country is weak, the major chunk of the GDP of the country is governed by tourism and trades.
In the past census of 2001, the population of Nepal was found to be around 23 million. If we compare these numbers with the population of Nepal 100 years back (1911), significant growth can be observed. The population of Nepal during 1911, was around 5.5 million. In the census of 2001, it was also noticed that an equal number of the male and female population was present, which denoted a good gender ratio. The birth rate has also significantly improved in the past years and with a considerable drop in the death rates, the population was increasing steadily.
The literacy rate among the Nepalese population has also increased to more than 60%. The infant mortality rate has also been reduced with improved medical facilities. Previously the life expectancy was measured to be at 54 years, in 1991, which has reached to more than 61 years in the recent census study. However with the increasing population, the amount of people under the poverty line has also increased. The govt of Nepal is taking various Poverty Reduction Strategies to fight with this issue.
Another factor which impacts the population of Nepal is the International migration of the people. Often due to various circumstances, like natural calamity, jobs, etc. Nepalese people leave their country and migrate to adjoining nations.
