While the national Assembly was busy in Versailles drafting constitution, the rest of the France was in turmoil. Due to bad harvest which was fallowed by hoarding, the prices of bread and food touched the sky and also became scare. So the people stormed the bakery shops and food stores and the streets of Paris became violent. The king ordered troops to move into Paris which further angered the agitated people and they stormed and destroyed the Bastille-the symbol of king's power.

At the same time rumors spread in rural areas that lords had hired bands of brigands to destroy ripe crops which enraged the villagers. The villagers attacked the manors of lords, looted hoarded grains and burnt documents related to land revenue tax. Many lords and nobles fled from their for safe places. So the above situation clearly shows there was a turmoil in rest of France when National Assembly was busy in drafting constitution.
