Vietnamese and French schools
Explanation:
Majority of the Vietnamese students left school and failed the final year examinations. This was a deliberate ploy by the French colonists to protect the well-paid jobs for the French nationals living in Vietnam. The students were deliberately failed in the final year, so they could not land better paid jobs like shopkeepers, teachers, policemen, etc. These positions were held by the French. Also, most Vietnamese were used to being educated in the Chinese language under the traditional system. They struggled when the French introduced French as the medium of instruction. So in 1925, out of 17 million Vietnamese, less than 400 passed the examination.
