The symbiotic association between fungi and plant are called as mycorrhizae in which fungi absorbs phosphorus from soil which is then used by pant as nutrients. Hence, micorrhizae

can be used as biofertilizers

The two type are differentiated by the fact that the hyphae of endomycorrhizal fungi do not penetrate individual cells within the root while the hyphae of endomycorrhizal penetrate the cell wall and invaginate the cell membrane.
