Antacids are usually basic carbonate or bicarbonate(most of them are made up of Mg(OH)₂ also called Milk of magnesia/magnesium hydroxide) which react (neutralize)with hydrochloric acid in stomach to lower the pH.
Here's an example with sodium bicarbonate as antacid Mg(OH)2 + HCl ---> MgCl + CO2 + H2O
