here n is the number of values in the group.

An average is also known as a mean. Similar ,to  the median and the mode, where the average is a measure of  a typical value in a given set.

Types of Averages

There are three main types of average:

  1. mean,
  2. median and
  3. mode.

These techniques works slightly differently and  results in different typical values.

Mean-

To find the mean,  we add up the values in the data set and then divide by the number of values that  we added.

Median,

To find the median, list the values of the data set in numerical order and identify which value appears in the middle of the list.

Mode

To find the mode, first identify which value in the data set occurs most often.
