Vertebrates, and a few invertebrates, have a closed circulatory system. Closed circulatory systems have the blood closed at all times within vessels of different size and wall thickness. In this type of system, blood is pumped by a heart through vessels, and does not normally fill body cavities

Open type circulatory system:
The internal organs are directly bathed in blood.
The artery open into large spaces called sinuses.
From the sinus the blood is carried by the veins to the heart. There are no inter connecting vessels or capillaries between the arteries and the veins, as the blood comes out of blood vessels.
It occurs in annelids.
Closed Type:
In this type, the blood remains inside the blood vessels and does not come out.
The blood flows from arteries to veins through small blood vessels called capillaries.
It occurs in mammals.
