Types of waves of seismic waves of Earthquake

1.Primary waves=Primary waves have higher speed than all other waves.Primary waves are called inductive waves. Speed is highest.Primary waves can penetrate through solid and liquid matter.  Seconds speed 8 to 12 kmph. Speed increases in hard rock. travels horizontally.

2.Secondary waves=Secondary waves are like light waves in which the vibration of particles occurs in a direction perpendicular to the direction of propagation. Secondary waves are called transverse waves travel through solid matter speed increases with density these waves are very destructive speed 4 to 6 km per second.Secondary waves can pass through this solid; But they cannot pass through liquid matter. All generally their speed is half that of the primary waves.

3.Surface waves=Surface waves do not travel deeper They travel at the slowest speed. Surface waves flow through these surfaces like ocean waves. They travel circumferentially and  are the most destructive 3 to 4 km per second.
