Answer:

Seismic waves are the waves of energy caused by the sudden breaking of rock within the earth or an explosion. ... The two main types of waves are body waves and surface waves. Body waves can travel through the earth's inner layers, but surface waves can only move along the surface of the planet like ripples on water.

Answer:

1.. ᴘ- ᴡᴀᴠᴇs ( ᴘʀɪᴍᴀʀʏ ᴡᴀᴠᴇs)

The shock waves become after the movements of two massive rocks are called P- waves means Primary waves.

2. s- ᴡᴀᴠᴇs ( sᴇᴄᴏɴᴅᴀʀʏ ᴡᴀᴠᴇs)

The wave created after the reflection of primary waves called S waves (secondary waves).

The function of the seismic waves is similar to the function.

3. ʟ- ᴡᴀᴠᴇs (sᴜʀғᴀᴄᴇ ᴡᴀᴠᴇs)

When the released energy comes on the surface of the earth, that time generated waves are known as L- waves. L- Waves also known as LOVE waves. These are the horizontal and vertical waves on the surface of the earth. These are those waves which damage the most.

4. ʀᴀʏʟᴇɪɢʜ ᴡᴀᴠᴇs:

The medium of S- waves and Rayleigh waves is almost same.

Speed of Rayleigh waves is less than the speed of surface waves
