Volcanoes, which constantly eject lava , gasses ashes, and other materials are known as active volcanoes.Most of them are in pacific ocean and atlantic islands.

A volcano which although not extinct , has not been erupt within historic time is known as dormant volcanoes.

Extinct Volcanoes :-

A volcano that erupted in the distant geological past and remains of which occur in an area where there is no longer any active volcanicity is known as extinct volcano.

Active Volcano: An active volcano is the one which keeps erupting continuously and it can take place any time.Mt.Etna and Mt.Stromboli are two active volcano.

Dormant Volcano: A dormant volcano is the one that has remained inactive and has not erupted for a long time.It is a potential danger as it can erupt any movement.

Mt.Fujiyama and Mt.Vesuvius are two dormant volcano.

Extinct Volcano: An extinct volcano is that which has not erupted for a long time and there is no possibility of its erupting in the near future.

My.Kenya and Mt.Aconcagua are two Extinct Volcano.
