India has a uneven distribution of population due to several factor like
1-low birth and high death rates area
2-Topography rugged terrain and unfavorable conditions are primary responsible for sparse population in states like rajasthan and the hills states.
3-Hilly, dissected and rocky nature of the terrain, moderate to low rainfall, shallow and less fertile soil are responsible for lesser population.

The distribution of industries is uneven in India because the distribution of resources are uneven in India. Each company wants to start their industry at a place where they can get the raw materials at lower prices, where the transportation system is good so that they can deliver their products to the market, where there is good supply of electricity to run the industry etc.
