Unification of Italy was led by king and chancellor of Piedmont-Sardinia after victourious wars against Austria. Pope lost his power over Rome and other Papal states which marked the Unification of Italy.

Unification of Britain -- 1707

England and Scotland were separate earlier even though it was under the same monarchy. Unification of Britain happened after a union was formed by both which led Britain to become a united political system.
