Unification of Britain.

  • There was no British nation before the 18th century in Scotland.
  • The English parliament ceased the power from Monarchy in 1688.
  • And that's how England became a nation state.
  • Now, the Act of Union was signed between England & Scotland in 1707.
  • The place was renamed as United Kingdom of Great Britain.
  • After the renaming of the nation, England took over Scotland.
  • Together they thought of occupying Ireland. At that time, Ireland was classified into two groups, namely, Catholics and Protestants.
  • After occupying Ireland, now the United Kingdom of Great Britain consisted of England, Scotland & Ireland.
  • This is how Britain was Unified.

Major changes that took place after the unification were :

  • A new British flag was made.
  • A National Anthem was composed.
  • English was made as their national language.
