Answer:

The primary identity of the people who inhabited Britain were ethnic ones - English,Welsh,Scot or Irish. All groups had their own political and cultural traditions. The English parliament seized power from monarchy in 1688. Through this a nation state with England at its centre came to be forged. The act of union of 1707 resulted in the formation the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Through this England was able to impose it's influence on Scotland. Ireland was a country deeply divided into protestants and Catholics. The English helped protestants establish dominance over Catholics. After the failure of the revolt led by Wolfe Tone Ireland was forcibly incorporated into the United Kingdom of Great Britain in 1801.
