Uniform circular motion is accelerated because the velocity changes due to continuous change in the direction of motion. So, even when the body moves ta a constant speed, its velocity is not constant. Thus, for a body moving in a circular path at a constant speed, its velocity changes continuously.

When a body moves with constant speed in a circular path, it is said to be in a uniform circular motion.

In this case, though the speed of the body is constant as it moves, the direction keeps on changing tangentially. Here, magnitude of velocity is constant, but the direction of velocity changes as the direction of movement of the body changes.

Hence, change in velocity results in acceleration.

It is justified that a uniform circular motion of a body is an accelerated motion.
