plants take nutrients but they are categorised into two type:- 1. Macro nutrients 2. micro nutrients

1. macro nutrients:- the nutrients which are needed to plants in more quantity

eg:- 1.Nitrogen,phosphorus,potassium.

2. micro nutrients:- which are needed to plants in less quantity eg:- zinc, iron.

NOTE:- plants get these nutrients in different ways

1.IRRIGATION:- when plants are irrigated, the nutrients present in the soil dissolve in water and will be transformed into the plant

2. SYMBIOSIS:- it is process in which plants like ground net(especially leguminous plants) get nitrogen by rhizobium bacteria.

Mineral uptake is the process of absorption of mineral nutrients (macro and micronutrients) by plants in which they enter the plant cells from the soil.

Mineral uptake is usually through the roots and it typically follows the same pathway as water. Minerals are absorbed in the form of inorganic ions (Mg²⁺ nitrates, Na⁺, K⁺, PO₄³⁻, etc.), especially through the meristematic region of the root tip.

Based on whether energy is spent or not, there are two methods of mineral update.

1. Passive  mineral absorption

It is a passive, physical, spontaneous process that doesn't require energy as the minerals are absorbed by simple diffusion along the concentration gradient.

2.  Active  mineral absorption

An active chemical process which requires energy and in this movement of ions are against the concentration gradient.
