Community land refers to land that has long been owned, managed, held, and/or used by local people. Community land may be divided into parcels for individual or family use, but it remains in the 'ownership' of the larger community. Other community land is held in common for shared use.
Sundarban is an example of a community land.
It is described to be a community land because it comprises of closed and open agriculturally used land and mangrove forest. Additionally it is intersected by Small Island of salt –tolerant mangrove forest, tidal waterways and mudflats.
