The large surface area of alveoli is useful for the exchange of gases. It facilitates the absorption of oxygen into blood and carbon dioxide from the blood.
Alveoli have a very dense network of blood capillaries which is helpful in carrying oxygenated blood to the heart and the carbon dioxide from the deoxygenated blood collected from different parts of the body is absorbed by them and CO2 is then removed out of our body through the process of respiration.
