a concave mirror can form a real and inverted image.when object is placed very cloase to the mirror, the image formed is virtual, erect and magnified whereas image formed by a convex mirror is erect, virtual and smaller in size in than the object

The outer curved part is coated with mercury as the inner would reflect light in case of concave mirror.
Whereas the inner is coated as to make the outer to act as reflector in case of convex mirror.
Concave mirror can give both real and virtual images for a real object depending on the location of object.
But convex on the other hand can give only virtual image with a real object irrespective of the position of the object.
Next, concave mirror can be used as shaving mirror. Also used to converge the parallel beam of light.
Convex mirror is best used as rear view mirror in case of vehicles.

Uses of Concave Mirrors :
It is used as shaving mirror
A dentist uses a concave mirror to obtain a magnified image of the teeth of the patient
It is used as a reflector in torches , lighthouses , headlights of vehicles etc
Concave mirror is used in Solar-Powered gadgets .
In astronomical telescopes , it is used to view magnified images of heavenly bodies.
Uses of Convex Mirror :
Convex mirror is used in vehicles such as car , bus and truck and it can be used to see a much larger area than the area visible by a plane mirror.
In shopping complexes and large shops to keep an eye on customers and shoplifters in used .
