Explain the variations in organisms giving examples
Answers
Variation:-
In case of sexual reproduction, two parents or two individuals of different sexes are needed for the production of offspring.
- The nucleus contains the DNA which carries the heredity characters from one generation to other.
- It contains all the information to make specific proteins which performs the metabolic activities.
- The DNA form it's copies to be transported from one to another.
- The formation of new DNA from older ones is called replication of DNA.
The DNA copies are similar to the older ones, but not identical unlike the asexual reproduction. Some minor alterations occurs which leads to variation. This allows the organisms to survive with the changes in environment
Example:-
One of the best example is the colour of the wing of Moths due to several variations corresponding the nature.
- Moths were previously bright coloured but this led to their decrease in number.
- How? Their bright colours are easily spotted by the predators and hence they were killed.
- Moths with wings similar to the color of tree bark are better able to camouflage themselves than moths of a different color. Hence, They could survive.
When characters are transmitted from one generation to next generation there is some changes.
Changes in character by recombination of gene in offsprings takes place they look different from their parents.
It contains the information to make specific proteins which perform metabolic activities. The DNA form it's copies to be transported from one to another.
It state difference between cells , individual organisms , and groups of organisms of any species caused either by genetic differences
The individual members of a species also have differences in characteristics.
This above phenomena is known as “Variation”.
The example of variation in organisms are like humans have different eye colours , rabbits have different colours, there is a change in dog's tail size.
