The various changes seen in boys and girls during adolescence:-

(i) Increase in height: Girls grow faster than boys in the initial years. By 18 years of age both reach their maximum heights.

(ii) Change in body shape: In boys shoulder become broader, muscles of the body grow prominently, chest become wider. In girls region below become wider, breast develop and increase in size and mammary glands develop.

(iii) Development of hair: Both boys and girls show hair growth in the armpits and in the pubic region.

(iv) Change in voice: The voice box or the larynx begins to grow at puberty. It is larger in boys than in girls.
