A virus is a small parasite that cannot reproduce by itself. Once it infects a susceptible cell, however, a virus can direct the cell machinery to produce more viruses. Most viruses have either RNA or DNA as their genetic material.

various pathways of glucose oxidation:

1.in presence of oxygen(in mitochondria)the 6 carbon molecule glucose breaks down into 3 carbon molecule pyruvate then in presence of oxygen it further breaks into carbon dioxide, water by producing energy.

2.in absence of oxygen(in yeast) glucose(6 carbon molecule) will break down into pyruvate(3 carbon molecule) the pyruvate will further break into ethanol, carbon dioxide with energy.

3.lack of oxygen(in muscle cells) glucose(6-carbon) to pyruvate(3-carbon) then pyruvate breaks into lactic acid with energy.

hope it helps...
