Various preventive measures against insect pests:

• Selection of crop which is pest resistant: Due to huge loss in yield of crop due to pests and weed, the biotechnologist and genetic engineering field has come up with many hybrid varieties by altering the gene of the plant during the seedling stage itself. One such tremendous example is pest-resistance crop. Such crop must be selected and used.  

• Crop rotation: In order to prevent the loss due to insect pest, in the same filed different crop must be grown in each and every season.

• Usage of pesticides: Pesticides or insecticides are chemical preparation which can be used to protect the crop from the pest.
