When a parcel of warm air travels from a low valley region to the foothills of a mountain range, it is forced to rise along the slope of the mountain (the windward side) as it encounters higher terrain. The Slope of mountain where the wind strikes is called as the windward slope.

the Windward side of mountains faces the wind while the leeward side faces away from the prevailing winds . Windward side the side of the mountain, rigid or other flow obstacle facing towards the direction of the large scale the side of the mountain which blocks the wind to blow
