Azad Gomantak Dal was founded by Vishwanath Lawande, Narayan Hari Naik, Dattatraya Deshpande, Prabhakar Sinari who along with their other friends carried out series of attacks on Portuguese police stations and banks . all of them were sentenced to 28–29 years of imprisonment in exile by the Portuguese courts.
