as the water vapour condenses into liquid latent heat is released which warms the air causing it to become less dense the surrounding drier air .The air tends to rise in an updraft through the process of convection

Hey mate

Thunderstorm is characterised by presence of lightning and thunder.

It occurs in cloud.

Thunderstorms result from the rapid upward movement of warm, moist air, sometimes along a front. On reaching the sky and further moving higher, cools and condenses and forms cloud. These clouds can reach upto a height of 20 kilometres.

Thunderstorms form and develop mainly in mid-lattitude , where warm and moist air from tropical lattitudes collides with cooler air from polar lattitudes.

There are four types of thunderstorms:

● single cell

● multi cell cluster

●multi cell lines

● supercells

Hope that helps you
