Explain the working of a syringe used by children when they play with coloured water

That is called Pichkari in hindi...

When u push the plunger(handle used to push e.tc. of a syringe) of the syringe in a bucket full of water/coloured water,the water/colour goes inside it due to pressure.

Then after releasing the plunger when u push it the water/colour comes out due to force....
