A biogas plant consists of the following parts :
- Mixing tank : It is present above the ground where the cow dung is mixed with water.
- Inlet chamber : It connects the mixing tank with the digester tank.
- Digester : It is a sealed underground chamber covered with dome like ceiling.
- Over flow tank : Spent slurry is removed from here.
The working of the biogas plant is as follows :
- The cow dung and water is mixed in the mixing tank.
- The mixture reaches the underground digester tank through the inlet chamber.
- After, 50 to 60 days, biogas is produced by the action of anaerobic bacteria.
- The produce biogas is collected inside the dome built over the digester tank.
- At last, the slurry is removed through the outlet chamber.
