A compound microscope works on a principle that when a tiny objects to be magnified is placed just beyond the focus of its objective lens,inverted and highly magnified image of object is formed at least distance of distinct vision

a beam of visible light from the base is focused by a condenser lens onto the specimen. The objective lens picks up the light transmitted by the specimen and creates a magnified image of the specimen called the primary image inside the body tube.
