Hope it is helpful

Hydro power plant is setup in higher mountain areas

Works :-

Water is stored high as it get more potential energy

Then the water is released from dam to a down stream

There is a turbine and generator in the exit of the downstream

The water flow to downstream the potential energy converts into kinetic energy

Kinetic energy is used to rotate the turbine and mechanical current generated which is passed through generator which makes as electric current

Changed of energy occurred are

Potential energy into kinetic energy into mechanical energy into electric current energy
