living organisms get food in two ways:
from inorganic and organic materials
green plants prepare their food from inorganic materials like water o2 etc
human beings and other organism get their food from organic materials like plants

it means that some substances that are complex like protein fats etc. which we get from food need to be broken down into smaller particles like proteins will break down in amino acid . these are broken by enzymes into smaller particles and are then used by our body

Every living thing needs food for its survival everyone get it in a different form .some get in carbon dioxide form like trees and plants,some get from animals and green plants like humans,some use complex substances but these substances are needed to be broken in smaller particles before they are used for the growth of body so to break these the body of organisms use enzymes, therefore we can say that heterotrophs are directly and indirectly dependent on autotrophs
