The slope of time - velocity graph represents the acceleration of an object.

If the acceleration is positive, then the slope is also positive i.e., an upward sloping line.
If the acceleration is negative, then the slope is also negative i.e., an downward sloping line.

This principle can be extended to any motion conceivable. Thus the shape of the line on the graph is descriptive of the object's motion.
