In the root hairs of root, the concentration of solute is higher than that of soil. The water always flows from solute of lower concentration to solute of higher concentration. Thus resulting in the inward flow of water from soil water (capillary water) this water further flows from root hair cells to upward direction causing a positive pressure and takes the water towards the leaves known as root pressure. This theory is applicable in process of guttation. This is not applicable to higher plants.
