“A” fires would be wood, paper, or pulp. The preferred method for extinguishing class “A” fires is to remove the heat. Water is the most common agent, but others such as dry chemical, halon, halogenated agents and foam can be used effectively. A class “B” fire involves flammable liquid or gas.

Answer:

All flames can be extinguished by cooling, smothering, starving, or stopping the combustion process.

Explanation:

Method 1:

Cooling: The heat from the fire triangle is removed by cooling. This heat acts as an ignition source, which can be a bare flame, sparks, or something else. When the source of a fire is removed, the fire will automatically extinguish.

Method 2:

Starvation: Hunger depletes the fire's fuel supply.  The propellant can be solid, liquid, or gaseous in nature. When there is no more fuel to consume, the fire goes out on its own.

Method 3:

Smothering: The fire's oxygen source is cut off here. This is mostly accomplished by covering the fire in order to prevent or limit the influx of oxygen into it.

So, All flames can be extinguished by cooling, smothering, starving, or stopping the combustion process.
