1) core zone - in core or natural zone human activities is not allowed. This area is legally protected and undisturbed ecosystem.

2) buffer zone - the immediate surrounding area of core zone is buffer zone. Here limited human activities live like research, education is permitted.

3)manipulation zone - manipulation or transition zone is the outer most or spherical area of biosphere reserve. with the cooperation of reserve management and local people several human activities like settlement, cropping, forestry take place without harming the environment.

It is a actually specified protected area in which is permitted for land's multiple use.

There are 3 zones of Biosphere Reserve:-

1. Core Zone:- This zone lies in the centre where humans are not allowed to do anything.

2. The Buffer zone:- In this type of zone, human activity is allowed but is limited.

3. Manipulating zone:- It is Also known as transition zone. In this type of zones human activites would go on in large numbers.

Important Information:- 408 Biosphere reserves are located in 94 countries out of which 14 sites are present in India. In India 14 sites have been identified as potential biosphere reserves together.
