Answer:

the pattern of the field is similar to magnetic field around a bar magnet. One end of the solenoid behave as a magnetic north pole and another it behave like a south pole

Answer:

Aim: To show that solenoid works when electric current passes through it.

Materials: Electric wires, electromagnet, iron nail.

Procedure: Take an Electromagnet and coil the solenoid over it to form and electric circuit. Bring the iron nail towards the circuit. The electromagnet does not attract the iron nail. Now close the switch and observe what happens.

Observation: We observe that the solenoid attracts the iron nail till the current passes through the circuit. If we open the switch again, the iron nail would not be attracted by the solenoid.

Conclusion: This proves that a solenoid only works when electric current passes through it.
