Answer:

The treaty of Versailles was signed by Germany to accept it's defeat at the end of the first world war. It was a harsh and humiliating peace to Germany because it lost its overseas colonies, 13 percent of its territories, one tenth of its population , 75 percent of its iron and 26 percent for its coal to France , Denmark , Poland and Lituania. The allied powers also demilitaralised Germany to weaken its power.

The War Guilt Clause held Germany responsible for the war and damages the allied countries had suffered and so Germany had to pay 6 billion Euros as compensation amount .

In addition to this , the allied armies also occupied resource rich Rhineland.
