Answer:

According to Thorndike learning takes place by trial and error. Some people call it, “Learning by selection of the successful variant,” accordingly when no ready-made solution of a problem is available to the learner, he adopts the method of trial and error. He first, tries one solution.

this theory was given by edward thorndike. learning by trial and error can be defined as reaching to a satisfactory results by trying out various means until error is sufficiently reduced. he made his experiment by placing a cat in the puzzle box and a fish outside the box. the puzzle box could be opened only by pressing a lever. the cat at first made several random attempts to get out of the box nd by chance it pressed the lever. He found that as the trials increased ,no. of random attempts decreased. And cat learnt to press the lever the time it was placed inside the box.
