Double fertilization is the process found in angiosperms (flowering plants) in which out of the two male gametes released in the embryo sac, one fuses with egg cell (syngamy) and another fuses with secondary nucleus to form a triploid Primary Endosperm Nucleus (PEN) (triple fusion).

In angiosperm ( flowering plant)after reaching to synergids through the pollen tube(pollen pistil interaction) two male gametes are discharged from generative cell .
One of the two male gamete fuse with the central polar nuclei and form PEN ( Triploid primary endosperm nucleus) it is known as triple fusion because it contains 3 nucleus 2 of polar nuclei and one of male gamete.
Other male gamete fuses with the egg present with synergids and produce diploid cell called zyote which developed into embryo and the endosperm provide nutrition to embryo
