there is an enormous ocean of air in the atmosphere and each section is different from other by temperature when the light from the stars travel towards the earth it travel through these columns of air, due to the difference of temperature there appears the twinkling of stars

another reason is that the star is very very very far away than other planets this is why star twinkles but planets don't

The twinkling of A Star is due to the atmospheric refraction. The continuously changing atmosphere refracts light from the stars by different amounts from one moment to the next.In this way The Star light reaching our eyes increases and decreases continuously due to atmospheric refraction. And The Star appears to twinkle at night.
