In Twisted Aestivation, one margin of a petal covers adjacent petal and the other margin is covered by another petal. One margin of the petal overlaps that of the next one, and the other margin is overlapped by another one.

Example- China rose, Cotton, Ladyfinger (Malvaceae family)

Imbricate aestivation is the aestivation in which one petal or sepal is internal or overlapped on both the margins. Another one petal or sepal is external with both of its margins overlapping. In the remaining petals or sepals, one margin is overlapping and another one is overlapped.

The mode of arrangement of petals or sepals in which they overlap each other is called as Twisted Aestivation. The overlapping is regular by one margin of each petal over the margin of adjacent petals.

Example: Hibiscus (China Rose)
