1. Less human intervention
North eastern states are usually less developed in term of infrastructures. Since developmental activities are less, forests are not destroyed and the nature remains intact. These states also have a sizeable tribal population who preserve the forests!

Indian monsoon clouds comes from the South and moves towards the North eastern states and results in high rainfall. Similarly the precipitation of clouds coming from central Asia also leads to rainfall. Cherrapunji in Meghalaya is the wettest place on earth. This supports the vegetation in these states.
