there are 3 types of multiplexing:
(1) Space Division Multiplexing:
There is a physical link or path dedicated to each sender and reciever path. Telephone system is a most common example of SDM.
in this separate links are maintained.
(2) Frequency Division Multiplexing:
FDM is a technique which uses different frequencies to combine multiple streams of data for transmission over a communication channel. Television transmitter uses FDM to broadcast channels.
(3) Time Division Multiplexing:
In TDM , there is only one path and carrier frequency and each user is assigned a unique time slot for data transmission. It is a sequential system. Each user has alloted bandwidth for a limited time. GSM(sim) is an example.
